Cheyenne Tozzi and Brandon Davis try luck in Melbourne

CHEYENNE Tozzi and her playboy beau Brandon Davis have hit more bad luck, after arriving in Melbourne for the Millions Main Event tournament at Crown Casino.

For starters, it seems Davis can't seem to win a trick, after lucking out at Melbourne's poker tables.

The US party boy flew south with Tozzi to buy into the tournament that kicks off on Thursday, but he turned up a day late to actually qualify.

Heading to the exclusive Mahogany Room instead, the cards didn't fall much better for Davis or his gal pal, who won few friends among the hotel staff when the couple checked in.

Sources tell Confidential the couple came with a list of demands at the neighbouring Crown Towers.

Lobby spies say Tozzi was seen on Friday night ordering a Crown concierge to find her a charger for her mobile phone.

Quest for Knowledge

No tour would be complete without a visit to the beautifully renovated Coptic Museum (Tel: +2 (02) 362-8766), with its collection of manuscripts, icons, crosses, statues and mosaics rescued from ancient monasteries.

While an impromptu walkabout of the area makes for a decidedly eye-opening experience, for a better informed tour, book with any of a number of agents specializing in pilgrimage holidays. South Sinai Egypt (Tel: +2 (02) 418-7310) organizes trips to Christian sites, perfect if you want to follow the trail of the Holy Family in Cairo.

One of the most-visited stops on the trail is Mataria, where, it is believed, the Family rested beneath a balsam tree that is used to this day to prepare holy oil. There are also a museum and a Catholic Church with gorgeous paintings of the angel Gabriel appearing to Joseph.

Sony NSC-GC1 Net-Sharing Cam

The final word: While the NSC-GC1 cannot hope to compete with a dedicated camcorder, it provides an affordable introduction to video sharing over the internet. If you plan to screen your video creations exclusively online, you won't be disappointed.

THE proliferation of video-sharing websites has caused a steady stream of dedicated peripherals to enter the marketplace; each jostling for a prime position on the YouTube gravy train. First and foremost amongst these is the web-share cam, which combines the ease of use of a webcam with the functionality of a video camera. While traditionally the domain of small-time vendors, Sony has decided to join the fray with the NSC-GC1; a pocket-sized handycam tailor-made for online video sharing.

With an RRP of just $299, the NSC-GC1 is very much a bare-bones device, aimed squarely at casual users who aren't overly fussed by fancy features or high resolution.

2007 Holiday Guide

Coinciding with Frosty Friday in downtown Frederick, the market will include holiday activities and, fingers crossed, a visit from Frosty himself.

The Un-Black Friday Celebration, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Nov. 23, Belvedere Square, corner of York Road and Belvedere Avenue, (443) 831-4466, www.belvederesquare.com, free. The pushing, shoving, fighting, and tension of standing outside of Best Buy at 4 a.m. for a HD flat screen is so 2006. Get some shut eye Thanksgiving night and stroll over to Belvedere Square at your leisure the day after for merriment and relaxing consumerism. We might be a society in love with capital, but it should accompany gourmet food, boutiques, and a life of distinction, no?

Bazaart Artful Holiday Shopping, First Dibs 5-8 p.m. Nov. 23, $20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

'It just feels like I don't exist anymore'

As the city slept on a cold Wednesday morning, Jayme Spinks was still at the drawing board, pulling an all-nighter on an overdue design job.

Ms. Spinks, 24, thought nothing of the sirens, at least not at first. She'd lived on Queen Street West for almost two years and was used to them. But, as the swirling red lights bled through her third-storey blinds, something compelled her to go down to the street and have a look.

"Clearly, the place was on fire," she said of the address four doors east, "and there was a lot of smoke coming out of it. Enough to bother me."

Back upstairs, she changed out of her pyjamas, gathered her cat and a few belongings and left, planning to return once the fire was out. She didn't realize those items would be all she owned by the end of the day, when she sat in her mother's rec room in Belleville, watching herself on TV, gazing at the flattened remains of her material life.

OQO e2 ultramobile PC with HSDPA review

An ultramobile PC is a full PC in a nearly pocket-size unit. OQO, founded in 2000 by ex-Apple engineers, is the most distinctive of the ultramobile PC makers, producing over the years a series of increasingly gorgeous-looking devices, leading up to the OQO e2, a European model with HSDPA mobile broadband, that has the potential to be a really mobile networked PC.

The OQO 01 had good reviews and, following decent sales from online stores, the company launched a Europan version of its next model - the OQO e2 - in late 2007, followed swiftly by an HSDPA-enabled version, which can get up to 3.6 megabits per second (Mbps) from cellular networks.

At the moment, the OQO e2 is available only in Europe, with a typical model costing around £1,200, including 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 120GB hard drive, as well as 802.11abg Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
