Candidates make final push before 'Super Tuesday'

Two examples stand out: The Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 and The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act became laws. Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Senator Richard Lugar represent two different wings of the Republican Party. Senator Obama has compiled an impressive record for a freshman senator, which is a clear indication of how President Barack Obama might effectively govern

Mobius Amsterdam 2007: Opening reception and disclosure

Last month Microsoft invited me and 21 others to the annual Mobius event where we ave the opportunity to provide feedback on the Windows Mobile platform, exchange ideas with other enthusiasts, and see some future plans for Windows Mobile. This year the event is being held in Amsterdam and I arrived this morning. I slept a bit to catch up on some sleep, but may have a tough time going to bed at a reasonable hour (it is actually 1 am right now). The first event was an informal gathering for drinks, snacks, and introductions.

Nine of the 23 attendees this year are new to the Mobius group. The attendees and their sites are listed below:

Rafe Blandford, All About Symbian Paul O'Brien, MoDaCo.com Nghia Nguyen, PDA France Arne Hess, The Unwired Guido Bonati, SoloPalmari.com Remo Knops, Pocketinfo.nl Eldar Murtazin, Mobile Review Philip Berne, InfoSync World Shane Chiang, PPCSG.com Paul Matt, Phone Daily.com Jenneth Orantia, Roam Magazine and Gear Diary Andrew Shuttleworth, Windows Mobile in Japan Atushi Koyanagi, HTC Fan Mauricio Freitas, GeekZone Matt Miller, ZDNet Mobile Gadgeteer Ryan Block, Engadget Jason Dunn, Pocket PC Thoughts Michael Oryl, Mobile Burn Judie Lipsett, Gear Diary Eric Lin, PhoneScoop Vincent Nguyen, Slash Phone Dieter Bohn, WM Experts

It was great, as always, to meet new friends and talk with old friends at the reception.

Hospital kitchens fail hygiene, safety laws

The unhealthy kitchens are the latest blow to the NSW health system, already reeling over scandals including mismanagement of Royal North Shore Hospital and the bungled construction of the new Bathurst Hospital. A NSW Health spokeswoman said none of the issues incurred penalty notices and there was no threat to public health. "In all cases where there was an issue found at audit, remedial action was undertaken immediately." Brian Holloway, 56, had nothing but praise for the medical staff at Mona Vale Hospital during his long stay last year - but he had no love for the hospital's menu. He was appalled at being served what he said was quiches served flat like pancakes, rice tough enough to put through a slug gun and mashed potato like "quick-set cement".

Clicking for charity cash

WYRE Forest web users could turn computer clicks into charity cash according to an internet-savvy school supporter.

Rachel Joiner has already introduced St Ambrose Catholic Primary School, in Kidderminster, to a website search engine www.everyclick.com which earns money for the school's PTA - a registered charity.

The internet search tool - which trawls the internet for the closest matches to a query typed in on the computer keyboard - generates 1p for each new search launched.

Casio Exilim EX-Z600 digital camera

Casio's Exilim EX-Z600 point-and-shoot is ultra-compact, yet it has a bright and large 2.7-inch LCD. That's important because this camera lacks an optical viewfinder, and when shooting in bright sunlight, images on the Casio's display are perfectly visible. The EX-Z600 comes in either a silver or a black case.

While informal shots I took with the 6-megapixel EX-Z600 looked pretty good, the camera's images earned below-average scores for color accuracy and sharpness in detailed lab tests. The EX-Z600 also scored poorly in exposure accuracy tests, compared with other point-and-shoot cameras we looked at recently.

Usability is always a concern with pocket-sized point-and-shoots—especially those with big LCDs that take up a lot of space—and the EX-Z600's controls are definitely a mixed bag.

Smile-Detecting Sony DSC-T300 Digital Camera is Super Skinny

The T-series of digital cameras is well known for being among the slimmest in the business, but the feature set on the recently released Sony DSC-T300 is anything but skinny. In fact, it's surprisingly bloated given its incredibly thin profile You start off with basics like a 10.1 megapixel sensor and an impressive 5x optical zoom courtesy of Car Zeiss Vario-Tessar. And then it gets fantastically better with dynamic scene modes, a smile-detecting shutter, a face-detecting feature, a large 3.5-inch wide aspect touchscreen, ISO 3200, image stabilization, and improved focusing at close distance. Don't want to sift through your hundreds of pictures just to see which ones include your ugly mug? This camera can search though that library by face too. Rounding out the specs are 1080p slideshow output and a Memory Stick Duo slot.

Result: Ireland 16-11 Italy

I never thought it would happen at half-time. I should have had faith." Anonymous Welsh person on text 81111

80 mins: James Haskell makes a 20-metre break and pushes England to the half-way line. The clock is well beyond 80 minutes, but it's all over - Wales have won an absolutely extraordinary game of rugby. Just unbelievable.

79 mins: The Welsh pack are not letting the ball out of their sight, even though Hook is itching for a drop-goal. But Duncan Jones knocks on with 15 seconds left on the clock. Can England produce a moment of magic to level this absolutely enthralling encounter?

78 mins: BBC commentator Brian Moore names James Hook as his man-of-the-match - and rightly so. The fly-half has been absolutely inspirational. Wales' 20-year Twickenham hoodoo is just 90 seconds from being banished to the annals of history.
