| Sony slashes price of PS3 SDK to fix game problem
While some may view it as a sign of desperation, Sony on Monday said that it will cut licensing fees for the PS3 SDK in half to spur additional game development. The package now costs $10,250 in the US, 950,000 yen in Japan, and 7,500 euros in Europe. With lower prices now both for the consumer in the form of a system price cut, and for the developer in the SDK, it hopefully will mean higher sales and profits for the PS3. .

Mike Huckabee's 3:1 win over John McCain in Kansas this weekend sends a loud warning to the Arizona senator – and allows the glib Arkansan to justify remaining in the presidential race. As the sole remaining credible competitor to McCain in the primaries, Huckabee is likely to continue to win delegates, as the vessel through which disgruntled Republicans can send a message about their discontent with the party's likely nominee. Speaking as he does of “miracles," Mike Huckabee must understand that it would require one for him to win the 2008 nomination – he would have to secure 93% of the remaining delegates. So clearly, he's remaining in the race for another reason. By raising his delegate count above Mitt Romney's, second only to McCain's, Huckabee may well hope that he is establishing himself as the putative frontrunner the next time a Republican presidential field assembles.

AMD, NVIDIA duel in mobile graphics; 3D iPhone still distant
We're barely into this year's Mobile World Conference in Barcelona, Spain, and already the dueling press releases are flying. Fresh off the wire are two long-awaited and closely matched mobile graphics products from NVIDIA and AMD, both of which will bring some measure of desktop-caliber graphics to handheld devices. First up is STMicro's announcement of the first fruits of its alliance with AMD (announced at last year's MWC): the 65nm Nomadik STn8820 mobile application processor. STMicro's new chip combines the same mobile graphics core used in AMD's Imageon line with an ARM11 CPU core, and it tacks on a ton of other functionality, some of which I'll mention in a moment. Nomadik's graphics core is based on the same unified shader architecture (USA) that powers the Xbox 360, so Nomadik supports OpenGL ES 2.0, D3D, and the same tools and APIs that work with Imageon.
