The diplomat was speaking on Friday after the release of the U.N. nuclear watchdog's new report on Iran's atomic program. On Thursday, France and Britain formally submitted a third sanctions resolution against Iran to the U.N. Security Council, which they hope will be voted on next week. Xacti HD1a HD camcorder adds wide display, more
Sanyo on Thursday introduced the Xacti HD1a, a compact digital media camera that records both still pictures and digital video. It does it all onto an SD flash memory card. The Xacti HD1a is coming in September for $699.99. The Xacti HD1a records video in 720p and grabs 5.1 megapixel still images. Because it uses SD cards instead of bulky tapes or optical media, it's much more compact than other camcorders. It uses a 10x optical zoom lens and 2.2-inch LCD display. New features in the HD1a include a 16:9 widescreen still picture mode, in-camera video editing, a 30 frames-per-second 320 x 240 MPEG-4 pixel video recording mode called “Web-SHQ," optimized for the video iPod. The 16:9 still image mode grabs 3.8 megapixel images in the same wide-screen format as the Xacti HD1's digital videos.

Everyone was expecting Apple to release an ultra-portable notebook at this year's Macworld 2008 expo, and Steve Jobs didn't disappoint. Jobs revealed the aluminum-bodied MacBook Air is 0.16" at its thinnest point, 0.76" at its thickest point and weighs just 3.0 pounds. Jobs played up the fact that the MacBook Air is thin enough to fit within a standard manila envelope and new Mac TV ads will center on this ability. "When you first see MacBook Air, it's hard to believe it's a high-performance notebook with a full-size keyboard and display. But it is," said Jobs. The MacBook Air features Intel Core 2 Duo power (1.6GHz standard, 1.8GHz optional), 2GB of memory (soldered on and not upgradeable), Intel GMA X3100 graphics, a 13.3" LED-backlit display and an 80GB, 1.8" HDD for storage duties.
