| Grate expectations as cheese comes of age
The figures back up Broome's contention that we are witnessing a sea-change in our attitudes towards cheese. According to marketing information consultants TNS, shoppers bought £62.6m of lesser-known regional and organic cheeses in the UK, compared with £52.8m in the previous year. And data from market analysts Mintel show that "territorial" cheeses, a term which includes mass-market UK regional cheeses as well as the smaller producers, rose from £160m in 2002 to £220m last year. The study also forecast that shoppers will continue buying more organic and specialist cheese and that they will want to know more details about where the cheese in their shopping basket has come from. "There has been a change in recent years," said celebrity chef Martin Wishart. "We find that about 60% of our diners do opt for cheese and that is more than you would have expected a few years ago.
First Look: MindManager 7, mind mapping app
Images are typically easier to remember than words because people think in pictures. When organizing thoughts, some use a traditional outlining method to arrange concepts using words. Mind mapping is a more efficient way to categorize the thought process, allowing the user to design a physical layout of their ideas with colors, locations, and pictures, in addition to words. You can create a mind map using colored pencils and paper, or you could use a mind-mapping program like MindManager 7 Mac. .
Broadcaster Airs Video of German Hostage in Afghanistan
"The German hostage Rudolf B. ... urged Germany and the United States to pull out their forces from Afghanistan and urged his country to help save his life and secure his return to his homeland and family," an Al Jazeera presenter said. The voice of the hostage was inaudible in the video. The man, wearing a thick jacket and pair of jeans, was shown speaking into the camera in a mountainous landscape surrounded by masked men pointing guns at him. Images said to date from Saturday German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Jäger described the video as a "document of intimidation" and said experts would analyze and evaluate the images. Expo Daily Round-Up: iPod gadgets and other goodies
The sun has set on Macworld Expo 2008, and what a week it was. For me, it started with keynote-pundit stalking, then a day of cameras and printers, then a deep-geek dive into storage stuff, and finally—in this installment—a Friday of fun: speakers, docks, FM tuners, and other iPod gadgetry; and then a top-quality laptop microphone, a tricky lens for my digital SLR, and more. .

A Different Perspective
Yogi Bear stood at the entrance to Jellystone National Park. He scouted unattended picnic baskets while awaiting Boo Boo Bears arrival home on the school bus. Yogi and Boo Boo were co-owners of a playoff fantasy team. As Yogi considered himself smarter than the average bear, he figured his team had a decided advantage, but he needed Boo Boos help in researching and deciphering the most recent data before submitting teams for the next round of games. So he waited anxiously and kept a look out for Ranger Smith. The school bus screeched to a halt at the entrance and Boo Boo climbed down the steps, dragging his back pack behind him. The bus roared off in a cloud of dust and rubble. Hey, Boo Boo! Were still in first place in our fantasy league. Lets go look at the stats and make our picks. I dont want to play anymore, Yogi.
